Q:
What are the minimum system requirements to participate in CD-ROM video surveys?
A:
To participate in CD-ROM surveys, your computer must have:
Apple Quicktime 7 or newer
Adobe Shockwave 11 Plugin
56k or faster internet connection
PC:
Windows XP or Vista
Pentium III 1Ghz or faster processor
Internet Explorer 6 or newer
Mac:
MacOS X 10.4 or newer
Any G4, G5 or Intel CPU
Safari or Firefox 1.5 or newer
Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000 operating systems are no longer supported. Both Quicktime and Shockwave can be
installed from our CD-ROM.
Q:
I received an email inviting me to take a survey which told me that I would receive a CD in the mail, but the CD hasn't arrived yet.
A:
The CD should arrive within ten days after you receive the email invitation. If your mailing address in your E-Poll profile is not correct or current, the CD will not reach you. Please check your mailing address in your E-Poll profile.
Q:
I was invited to participate in a CD survey, but I never received a CD in the mail. Can I get a new one sent to me?
A:
Unfortunately, we cannot send replacement CDs. We only print one per respondent, and even if we had extra copies the US Postal Service would be unable to deliver the CD to you before the survey closed. Please check your mailing address in your E-Poll profile to make sure the CDs are being addressed correctly.
Q:
I received a CD survey in the mail, but when I log in it tells me the survey has already been closed or
has reached its quota. Why did you send me a CD to a closed survey?
A:
We did want your response, unfortunately it appears the US Postal Service did not deliver the CD to you
in time and the survey is now closed. All CDs are placed in the mail on the same day and the surveys are
usually available for at least 10 days after the CDs are mailed to give everyone an equal opportunity to
complete.
Q:
I received a CD survey in the mail, but nothing happens when I insert the CD into my computer. What
should I do?
A:
The most likely cause is that "Autoplay" is disabled on your computer. To manually start the survey, you
will need to open your "My Computer" folder (either on your desktop or thru your Start menu) and
double-click the icon for your CD-ROM. If this does not work, please eject the CD and then reboot your
computer. After your computer boots up, insert the CD to try again.
Q:
I received a CD survey in the mail, but I am prompted to install software onto my computer. Is this
necessary?
A:
Our CD surveys require the a few components necessary to view video in a web browser. Please see the
minimum requirements
FAQ at the top of this page.
Q:
I inserted a CD survey into my computer and reached the "spinning ball" test page, but the spinning ball
never appears. What should I do?
A:
First, hold down "Shift" on your keyboard and click the refresh icon in your web browser. If this does
not fix the problem, you may not have either Quicktime or Shockwave installed on your computer, or there
may be a problem with their installation.
Our CD includes the latest version of both Quicktime and Shockwave installers. To install them, browse to
"My Computer" (either from your desktop or Start menu). Right-click on your CD-ROM drive and select
"Explore" from the menu. Double-click the Quicktime and Shockwave installers to run them. Reboot your computer when finished.
Q:
I received a CD survey, saw the "spinning ball" test and successfully logged into the survey, but cannot
see the video during the survey. What should I do?
A:
First, hold down 'Shift' on your keyboard and click the refresh icon in your web browser. If this does not
fix the problem, please contact E-Poll Customer Care.
Q:
I just finished a CD survey. What should I do with the CD?
A:
You may dispose of the CD. Thank you!
Q:
I was invited to participate in a DVD video survey? Can I watch the DVD using my computer?
A:
DVD videos should be watched on your TV. However, if you do not have a DVD player attached to your TV, please use your computer instead.
Q:
I received a DVD to watch. What do I do now?
A:
Please watch the DVD and follow the instructions that have inserted into the video. We will display a 4-digit code and a web address with instructions on how to complete the follow-up survey.
Q:
I have a general question about survey-taking, but I don't see the answer above.
A:
Please see the help topic Taking Surveys for all questions about survey-taking not specific to CD-ROM surveys.
